Thomas started his internship at Prime Time Local news in January of 2022. He was then hired by Stingray to be the Northern Alberta News Anchor to also help out as a reporter with Primetime Local News. in February 2023 Thomas returned to the news room as the Sports Director while also continuing to cover agriculture for the lakeland area.
Thomas grew up on his family purebred angus farm south of Sangudo Alberta. Thomas was interested in being a sports broadcaster at a very young age and was inspired by announcers and broadcasters like Foster Hewitt and Dustin Nielson. He entered into NAIT’s Radio and Television and Arts program right out of high school.
Thomas has honed his speaking skills since he was 9 competing in 4-H public speaking and in other communications competitions at the numerous cattle shows he attended. He also did some voicing for commercials for his family’s Bull sale and appeared on the radio a few times for various events, and sometimes announced cattle shows and other local events.
Thomas is on the Canadian Junior Angus Association and helps run junior cattle shows and conferences. Thomas also tries to help out with volunteering and at the family farm as much as he can. In his free time Thomas enjoys watching sports, competing in fantasy hockey and Football leagues and playing video games.
