RCMP RELEASE:
On April 26, 2024, Bonnyville RCMP, assisted by St. Paul RCMP Traffic Services, executed a search warrant at a rural property in Bonnyville as part of an ongoing investigation into stolen property. As a result of the search warrant, one man was arrested and the following items were seized:
- 223.5 grams of cocaine;
- 523.8 gram of crystal methamphetamine;
- 21 firearms;
- Several thousand rounds of ammunition;
- 5 stolen trailers;
- 1 stolen ATV;
- 1 stolen engine skid;
- Multiple other stolen items; and
- $6,000 in cash.
As a result of the investigation, Joseph Gamache (43), a resident of Bonnyville, was charged with:
- Possession of property obtain by crime over $5000;
- Theft over $5000;
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2);
- Unlawful possession of a firearms;
- Careless storage of a firearm; and
- Possession of a firearm contrary to order.
Gamache was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. He is to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville on May 28, 2024.
“The Bonnyville RCMP continues to fulfill its mandate to enforce property crime offences which, often times, uncover other serious offences, such as, in this case, the discovery of 21 firearms and $40,000 worth of cocaine and methamphetamine” said S/Sgt Sarah Parker, Detachment Commander of the Bonnyville RCMP.
